Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Satan Said Dance

just in from seeing Choke which uses this Clap Your Hands Say Yeah song in its trailer (which appears to be stripped from you tube for unspecified violations). in any case. ... the movie is good. not earth-shattering. but better than most, fo sure. though, for the waco populace, the decision to see it or The Women next weekend is, of course, non-existent (outside of the scourge of bit torrent) but worth a future look-see.

Don Omar - Como Se Dice

does mccain inspire such head boppin' funk. i think not. mccain, of course, voted in favor of H.R. 6061 to create a 700mile border fence U.S.-Mexico border. It passed by a vote of 80-19. this fiasco sums up mainstream politics to my mind. you have an intricate, dare say, delicate, issue completely given over to flag waving and brute stupidity.

here's some music for obama, momma.

Obama v Maccain - the debate!

a choice selection from the night proceedings ...

9:10 PM — Lehrer: “You’re gonna vote for the plan, Senator?”
9:10 PM — McCain: “Yeah, yeah, sure, I guess, I hope.”

check the 2:00 min mark. leon gives love to obama. in a sense.

Julien Harpagès

the folks @ the open source label, Krayola Records, may or may not object to their instrumental drone-like music being background fodder during your exams, but fuck it, this is the perfect fit. these tracks are not your classical music stylings a lazier prof might dole out. no no. in will leave your mclennan county students calm & your peers, if not jealous, than bewildered.

ross gets political on your ass. this trumpeting of the horn is dated monday, february 11, 2008 & it will be interesting to see if he still feels (as) inspired by ombama and get his take in general of the current campaign clusterfuck. (yes, this is a family site and, yes, was named independently of his title ~ it's just we're occasionally, on my better days, twins)

cannibalcheerleader.com - various

for this bloggity blog blog there's no one song or artist in particular to point to (though it is disconcerting to see hiatus attached to belle and sebastian) but rather to showcase another kerbey lane media blog. this one comes from john b ~ a rockstar of sorts in the late night sub-genre of life serving the masses in quesofied chiaroscuro. he is an s.o.b. r.t.f b.s. and one day ph.d in badassery.

cannibalcheerleader should be one to bookmark and check in on occasionally. if anything, the site represents john b's (and co.) unique and inked over outlook and i love 'em for it.

Jamie Lidell - Little Bit of Feel Good

I find myself replaying the video daily and thought the song should travel with us on our portable devices. what an age ...

here you go.

O.V. Wright - I'd Rather Be Blind

taking a breather from the indie music that sasha frere-jones, on his new yorker high horse, laments, is absent "soul". while i find it easy to dismiss mr. frere-jones, a little diversity couldn't hurt this infantile site.

whether or not he'd "jive" to O.V. Wright, i couldn't say, but i stumbled across it, liked it and now here we are.

The Sea and Cake/ Jamie Lidell

via the forkcast from the site everyone loves to hate.

this The Sea and Cake is just a downright pretty spectuale to behold. somewhat reminiscent of george washington http://hk.youtube.com/watch?v=_4LbseKUo_w, down to childhood innocence, you know, minus the depravity and object lessons of the inner city

Lidell is another one i'm just being introduced to, though i embedded this video mainly for the unicorn love.

Flight of the Conchords - various

Flight of the Kraftwerk. (Yes, or 5039s gay couple from the FBI family portrait) By Amelia Handscomb.

a fan site with audio and interviews of new zealand's 4th favorite genre skewering duo. now, an important distinction with this jump. the site's content it is available for streaming (like internet radio such as http://musicovery.com/index2.php?ct=us thanks for the tip lace), so you'll need to be connected to the site to listen to the stylings of the 'conchords.

dr. dog just came to me from recommendations by trusted sources (recently toured through). it just goes to show how behind the curve i've become. damn it's good.

Brothers and Sisters - You're Gone

this local band recently canceled a show in happy valley, pa, which is shame. i would imagine it's been since my morning jacket in the red rock glow that lace had the opp. to see a good show. and these guys play a good show. though it's been a while since i've seen them so they may be road weary.
The link tells you they're tied close to ... and you will know us bla blah blah, the most boring austin band outside of los lonely boys. they might be friends or share people, but steer clear. fair warning.

The Shaky Hands - We Are Young

straight outta kill rock stars. thanks to ben, a co-worker and local scene stalker blogger @ http://www.austinbloggylimits.com/ for the now seemingly obvious tip ~ appropriate content direct from labels.

i don't know that this is my favorite song from this Portland 4 piece, but these guys are lively and the lyrics are slightly mad, which, i think, suits them well.

So, let's say you want to see if iron and wine has anything new out. google search to find the label (subpop in this case). jump to site and look for the audio/ visual dept. and download at will.

large hearted boy is today's destination with a host of music, but MMJ is what to look for. I was a late-comer to them, but they're very widely known and very good. The Kooks - All That She Wants (Ace of Base cover)

so for today's link, you'll have to work a little harder. Instead of just dragging the link into your download window or right clicking "save as" you'll need to click on the link and jump to a 3rd party site. This is not uncommon and allows for potentially larger downloads. Click on "Download File," wait a bit, then at the bottom of the page there will be a link available for download.

The National "Mr. Novemeber" (live)

i hate to be repeating bands so early, but this has some timely political vibrations; the antidote, if you will, to the RNC's most recent mind fuck. apart from lines such as "i'm the new blood/ i'm the great white hope," the title, there is also an instrumental version beaming into purple states (holla lacey(!)) with pretty pictures of barrack in fields of sunshine and puppies.

The National - Fake Empire (live)

this 1st link is an exercise in what to look for when rooting around for music on the internets. the link jumps to a site in italian. but fear not. examine the page. look for the link. and download. continue search through italian links. or retreat to source.
